We arrived in La Coruna yesterday (Monday) after being on port tack all the way from Brighton. The only change was 50 miles from La Coruna the wind dropped completely so we had to motor therefore no tack involved.
We were suprised at this, is anyone else?

We were on one tack on Stavros all the way from the Azores to somewhere off Falmouth. Confused the hell out of me when we started manoeuvering around the Channel and I had to remember to check which were the windward ratlines each time, after two weeks of jumping straight to the port rail every time I needed to go aloft.

Another reason to be grateful for not having a wooden classic: it would be leaking (more) on the windward side now, 'no going ashore yet we still need to man the pumps'.... How amazing though but I guess in a settled weather system it is possible to maintain the same air-stream for a few days. Lucky blighter.

I have sailed 360° around the North basin of Windermere and back onto my mooring in one tack.

Wind shifts sometimes work in your favour :D
