Hi Folks,
The other day, first time the boat has been in the water for nearly a year, I noticed a squeek coming from, I assume, the stern gland, sounds like rubber on stainless, seemed to ease with a few more revs. The outer seal is rubber and the inner felt. The inner gland nut is just hand tight but there's no water coming through when running.
Should I worry or just give it time to settle?

Cheers,

Crispin

Can't think why you would get that noise from the stern gland. If it rubber on stainless then isn't it more likey to be the cutless bearing? Should be water lubricated and would have got dry on land. If it doesn't quieten down pretty soon then you need to run in gear attached to a pontoon and use a listening pole to identify exactly where the noise comes from.

When first running the new engine there was a lot of noise from shaft (more of a wine than squeak) which was from the stuffing/inner bronze bearing. Settled down after about 6h running
