Not wishing to hijack other threads running on AF I thought I had better start a new one with my question.

I need to antifoul my little boat before she leaves her current dry berth and moves to a half tide swinging mooring at the end of May. However I have noticed that the AF I applied last year (a nice deep red colour) currently looks almost white. If I abrade the surface lightly the red colour returns although not as deep as when applied. Could the white colour be caused by the boat not having been in the water other than four weeks since the original application and what would be the best way to ensure that the new coat about to be applied actually stays on the hull when on the new mooring and does it's job?

TIA

Probably. Mine has gone from blue to pale blue since its been out of the water. I usually use a green scourer on the existing before applying the new. Use it wet to ensure you get nice and messy! Top tip, buy a sanding pole from the likes of screwfix/toolstation. Saves all that grovelling about under the boat and keeps AF slush from running up to your armpits.
I've got to a stage where I'm about to redo mine. Doesn't look like it'll be in the water before the end on the month though. I've got boats in front blocking the lift and getting the crane in to put the mast up!!

If it's only been in the water for half of a 4 week period it shouldnt need doing again?

I'd probably just put her back in the water, the natural erosion of the af should expose some fresh red after a while.

As said I would not re apply anti fouling. This especially so if you are willing to risk some weed growth and the need to scrub at low tide. The change of colour probably only affects the outer surface of the paint. olewill
