A couple of videos from the race boat - there are another two to come, one is a "Rooster Cam" and the other is a "cockpit cam" Roof Cam, it seems I can only put in one at a time!
They were taken at the Torbay Classic last Bank Holiday weekend, you can see Torquay, Paignton and even Brixham all in the background.

Fwiw, all links work just fine here, both with IE10 and FF21.
Nice clips Cookee, thanks for sharing them.
I hope you don't mind if I ask you to tell us more about the boat passing on your port side at 16" of the first video.
Not only she flies by like you were trolling around, but she also looks rock solid. Impressive.

That looks like Dean Gibbs in his fountain. Think it was re-engined a few years ago with some big mercs and was on coniston last year at 117 mph!

Great boat that is looked after very well!!

Nice videos cookee! Your boat is looking very smart!!

Doh! I should have guessed that...
Is she a yellowish 42' with the poker run superstructure, by chance?
She was moored in the same marina where I bought my 27' some years ago.
Awesome boat indeed, with a hull that can actually handle even faster speeds, if you throw enough power in her...

It is Dean Gibb's Fountain with a gazzilion horsepower! There were only four Marathon boats in Torquay so we all got lumped together - the others all had getting on for double our HP so it was a bit like bringing a knife to a gun fight! We had a bit of fun with some of the smaller boats but they were on a different course so that didn't last long either! The other boats were the classic Double two Shirts that has twin 600's (we have twin 260's!) when they're running, Dean's Fountain and the Dodge's Dragon with twin V10 Ilmor's at around 720hp a side so I don't think we disgraced ourselves!

It was a boat and crew shakedown for the Venture Cup Prologue that starts from Tower Bridge on the 8th of June (Next weekend!), Chris Dodge was meant to be my wheel man but he threw himself off some scaffolding so Tom Montgomery Swan will sit in the front and I think we might end up with a Danish Special Forces guy in the back - should be interesting and quite useful if we find a rough pub in Guernsey! :-)

Info on the entrants, course and where to watch from here: Venture Cup website

By the way if you follow the instructions on the website you can track the race live and there's even a free app of Iphones and Ipads.

Here's the dashcam video, Tom is driving, I'm on the throttles and Ashley is in the back navigating with a Raymarine E140, I have one in the front showing the engine data or nav data and Tom has a pair of smaller displays telling him which way to turn the wheel, he also has the trim tab control and I have the drive trim buttons:

That Dragon is simply stunning! if Cinzano (CUV38) was my old boat of choice, the Dragon with the V10's now has my support! loved it as EXTREMEBOAT in P1, just great lines! Shame not to see her running next week but along with a few other notable regulars, they seem to be missing from the entry list.

looks like you did pretty well Cookee against some seriously more powerful boats. should be interesting next weekend and into the following week. its a fair old way...

The Dodge brothers have had it rigged by Nick Barsch who is a multiple British OCR champion and class One engineer so he know what he's doing - they have also pretty much polished and redone every aspect of the boat and it's immaculate.

We just followed everyone around at a respectful distance! At least we didn't get beaten by Double Two Shirts as they didn't make the first lap!

Excellent video, thanks for posting..

We were watching in the bay just off Paignton, we were 100m or so behind the Marshalls boat in safe territory. After about 3 laps one of the big boats (excuse my ignorance) seemed to miss the buoy (or he took it very wide) near Torquay to head towards us. The Marshalls boat was about 150 metres from the buoy which signalled the turn back out to sea, we both saw many hundred HP heading our way, his face went white, he looked at us waving his arms and we both scarpered, heading for land. Quite scary but glad we kept the engine running .....
