I fitted an onboard camera and thought I would share the results, the camera records 24/7 on a 32gb disc which gives about 8 hours record in HD.

Quality isnt outstanding by todays standards but you get footage of things you would normally miss.

On passage just note the time of anything interesting and watch later.

Snap shots included taken from the footage , biggest issue with quality is the reflection off the windscreen.

Footage not that interesting but thought the idea may be of interest.

This is a DR400 Blackvue, designed for motorway use, just needs 12v.

You can take a still from the footage but this one is poor, had to blow it up and a wide angle snap.

This one isnt blown up much, just cropped a little but again the windscreen reflection is an issue.

Nice to see what looked like a small fast ferry comply with the COLREGS. Not much sea room though. It looked like he was going to cross your bow before he turned to stbd.

It was one of those moments where you have to hold your nerve , as far as I am aware his course was exactly as he followed (regardless of me), its a very narrow channel lined with submerged rocks and a 90 degree bend.

You can see the bend here :)
