If you have one of the excellent little gas detectors (that look like a yellow pen) do you find that the AAA batteries only seem to last 10/15 minutes before becoming flat?

Even reputable brands seem to make life last only just a little longer! (Must be a joke in there somewhere)

Thanks for thoughts on this......

I have had one of those detectors for a couple of years now and the batteries are still the original. However, I only switch it on when I want to do a check - I believe that is how it is intended to be used. Do you leave yours switched on all the time?

Same here more or less. After the Omnitron failed to trigger while I waved it around in the gas flow of a domestic gas hob I realized the device takes a long time to respond to the presence of gas and trigger the alarm.

These days every other week-end I leave it switched on for 5 minutes lying in a few test points in the bilges and lockers near the gas line.
