Sheffield has been unveiled as the suprise new venue for sailing at the 2012 Olympics. The thirty eight thousand seat stadium at Hillsborugh, normally home of Sheffield Wednesday Football Club, has completed the installation of a new facility which allows the playing area to be flooded and thus the sailing will now be hosted where spectators can watch at close quarters and in comfort. Said Olympics organiser Lord Coe, who is from Sheffield, "this is a very exciting development and an opportunity to bring a fringe sport like sailing, into an environment where spectators can get close to the action and really see what is going on" he continued "it has always been our policy to take events outside of London. Originally the sailing was to be in Weymouth but we are sure the move to the North will be popular". 2004 Olympic hero Shirley Robertson shrugged off concerns about the lack of wind in an enclosed arena "it's the same for all the boats, at the end of the day, it is down to who handles the conditions better, whatever those conditions may be
