Oliver Rofix was lucky to have survived LEUKAEMIA. He wouldn't be here without his donor and the support of family, friends and the various organisations dedicated to defeating this terrible illness.

He now wants to give something back and has set himself a challenge to sail single handed around the UK in a Valiant 18 sailing boat . In the process he he hopes to recruit 1000 new potential donors to the Anthony Nolan Trust as he sails around the UK.

Although he is now recovered this task is a physical strain for him, and he is emailing groups in advance of his arrival in ports around the Uk to ask if they would be able to offer any support whilst he is in a harbour near you.

Oliver is doing this sail "on a shoestring" and would welcome any support that may be on offer from a friendly chat, use of your shower/washing machine, a donation, advertising the fact that he is undertaking this challenge in order to recruit donors or a beer and a sandwich.

However
OLIVER EXPECTS TO ARRIVE IN WELLS NEXT SEA TONIGHT 15th APRIL AND BE THERE FOR PROBABLY 3 or 4 DAYS BEFORE HE SETS OFF FOR HIS NEXT PORT of CALL, GRIMSBY.

IS ANYONE PLANNING TO SAIL UP TO GRIMSBY WITHIN THE NEXT 7 DAYS AS OLIVER WOULD WELCOME SOMEONE TO SAIL IN COMPANY WITH EITHER PART OR ALL OF THE WAY

You can call Oliver on 077495 28455

He apologises that he cant give more notice but he has to time his trips in order to take best advantage of the wind, weather & tides, so if you happen to be in Wells over the next few days please say hello.

Saw Oliver on the Orwell a couple of weeks ago, boat was looking good. He has quite a few sponsors and Jeckells have made him a fine set of sails and a cracking sprayhood.

He is also trying to raise £5000 for the Antony Nolan Trust, you can make a donation via his website under charity donations and then click on the big blue Antony Nolan sign.

He's not doing too well on this at the moment, its a good charity and well worth supporting.
