The bridges seem mighty low.....only small boats up there.?
River was running fast and very coloured.
As for the %^&* traffic. Cannot remember that much congestion anywhere ever !!!!

That's to keep the rifraff out. The low bridge on the Botley Road (above Osney Lock) lock sees to that.
There was a thread (on here IIRC) some years ago of a dutch barge type boat getting through by dismantling some of his superstructure and loads of extra ballast. - Mr. Shead may remember it
Above Osney there are hardly any bridges at all.
 
Hardly any? I can think of nine and a few foot bridges :)

Yep, Godstow has caught a few out over the years and carries the scars to prove it. I've seen a few make a hash of Newbridge, which is huge in comparison.
It is a different river up there though :D
