Oldgits personal extreme weather phenomenon

While relaxing onboard this(very hot) Saturday afternoon,observed a curious thing.Sudden very powerful gust of wind appeared to hit the water immediately in front of the of the riverbank where I was moored..Wind travelled toward boat and some of it was forced between boat and concrete old dock wall.Boat was forced violently to one side and as air exited gap between hull and wall it started to spin and blooming well pick up water,weird sound of hissing wind and water.Kept going for about 10 or 12 metres and rose to a height of about 2 metres.By way of reassurance for the timid amoung you.At no time was any beer spilt during this scary experience.

Also spotted tall column (of dust ?) about half mile away,which lasted for about 10-15 minutes,but this was over some fields on the other side of river.

Sounds to me as if you experienced a sudden very localised mini cyclone.....on the other hand it could possibly be a <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.boatsontheweb.com/> Website, Photo Gallery, Chat Room, Burgees
