older 40hp nissan outboard

Hey Guys, nice to be back. Havnt visited here for a while been really busy with car stuff. But anyways, still looking for a motor for our 14' fibreglass v-hull, and came across an older (i assume, he didnt mention the year in the ad) 40Hp nissan outboard. said its automatic, has choke, and is like new, just had a tune up, quiet running, and was stored for 6 years. asking $350 Canadian.

Was wondering what these motors are like? any good? how are they compared to a 50Hp old chrysler? BTW: i sold that motor for parts for $100 candian, yeah!

Doubt you'll get much of a response from this as most of us are based in Britain. Nissan don't market their outboards over here. Although looking at a few websites for nissan the 2 strokes look remarkably like Tohahtsu's.

Only ever having owned Merc/Mariner and Evinrude/Johnsons can't comment on the jap stuff.
