I have cast aluminium stanchion bases made by Sowester. Unfortunately, one of them was mangled in the January gales and the closest replacement I can find these days has a different shape. More importantly, its three mounting holes are a different pitch. Before I mat up my deck and re-drill the holes, does anyone know where I might get my hands on another Sowester one? They have an inch diameter hole for the post and two "buttresses" - one on each side for hooking things on to. The buttresses are square in section and they form a "square" hole with the body of the stanchion socket rather than the "quarter circle" more common these days.

Think I've seen what you are after either in 'Marine Bazar' or 'Yacht Parts' in Plymouth. Don't have a tel number but could dig around for you if needed. I know it is a bit far from you but it's the best I can do!

If you can wait, try a local boat jumble - I've seen a lot of sowester gear there. Or just ring around all the local chandleries.
