Hi vintage / Sabb specialists

My trusty old Sabb G has begun to make a sound that reminds me of two metal parts grinding against each other. It's coming from the front of the engine, right by the flywheel.

Here's a video with the sound. The clicking sound is from a chain that turns the engine - the "whining" is what I am referring to. https://streamable.com/v7jys

Both engine and clutch sections are filled with oil to the mark. Could it be that oil is not getting to places where it should?

Another symptom is that the engine is heating up fast.

Hoping that someone is willing to help rescue this old friend.

Welcome to the forum! The noise 'seems' to sound as if it's an external noise? Is it possible that there's some 'hard' debris behind the flywheel? Good luck though.

Thanks Jamie.

I can't see anything touching the flywheel, but I guess there could be some debris inside the engine, close to the freewheel. I'll take as much apart as I can.

Thanks for the thoughts Jamie - I'll need all the luck I can get :)
