old penta single

I have a 40 year old volvo penta mb somthing or other. it has no provision for an oil filter. The cold start button has been snapped off at some stage and then gooped back in the hole. I would like to fix it but before I start tearing the engine to bits I would love to have a diagram or relevant section of a manual to assist with repair. It still runs ok and the car alternator Ive just put on it works like a dream. Oh and I live in Australia

this sounds like a md1

the oil is strained with a mesh in the sump
it might be worth taking the sump door of and scraping any muck out
parts are getting hard to get so if it runs then ok if not best used as a mooring
