I'm just looking for reassurance really. Kipor 2kw is going for around £300. It has the same dB under load and weighs 1kg heavier than Honda eu21.

honda is going for around £875.

I can go for any. I know I will get more than £600 back on the honda on ebay.

Is it really worth the extra outlay??

Only use it will get is when anchoring in rivers or around Channel islands.

I have read about them here many times but it is a last bit of reassurance I'm looking for........

Please dont have a go for /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif question!!

Vaguely looked into this recently. Main problem seems to be in getting a Kipor repaired if/when it goes wrong, at which point it seems likely to become a £300 piece of junk !
I think there other units in between price wise, that you can get serviced though.

Yep, gone through it. I'm favouring Honda, I just feel a bit strained to spend twice as much!
But all posts favour Honda.
I just keep in my mind, I will get most of it back should I sell it. They seem very popular on ebay.

rushing now so short answer Honda all the way and that's from direct experience. Cheaper in the long run due to longevity, quality and reliability

Got to disagree - my little 3000Ti is still going strong after ~1000 hrs running - longevity rating OK. Spares readily available if needed. I could buy 3 Kipors for the same as one honda.

When I was looking at the same question I was advised by a (honda main) dealer to go for the Kipor as honda were over priced for what they were.

I have not been disapointed with my Kipor and when (if) it goes tits up I'll probably go for another one. As for servicing and repairs, the Kipor is straight forward and there is an excellent manual available unlike the honda units.

~5 - 6years - used for boat, work shop, emergency back up for house and "remote" power. Change oil regularily and has had a new plug or two. I do have a feeling it might need a new fuel pump one of these days but those are readily available so not worried. It owes me nothing so if it does give up the ghost, WTF. It must be gettin near the end now although still starts easily enough.

Kipor directly ripped off the Honda design in every respect and produced identical machines until international patent police stopped them doing so. Kipor still produce good gennies based on designs they have but they are not identical to Honda any more. That said, I have used (and abused) my Kipor for hundreds of hours, often running for more than a day at a time and without problem.

For me, the trick is to change the oil at 10 hours from new (as per the manual) and then change the oils every 50 hours, rather than 100 hours, as the handbook says. And use the best fully synthetic oil you can buy.

I had both! The kipor was great for a few years but then needs mechanical know how as key parts like fuel hoses start to go and need replacing. However if you are a bit DIY with engines then it will run forever. You just need to adapt parts to fit!

The Honda does what you expect, buy it, run it, occasiobally service it and forget it!

Paid £360 for a Kippor, got offered £270 for it after 2 years but had it nicked in a garage robbery before I could post it (theiving toerags!). Then bought a Honda, ran it a few times and got the same back for it after 1 year as I paid!

So it depends if you vare a bit DIY! Both do the Job.....

Got the new Kipor 2600Ti last year same as the old 3000Ti it works a treat. The Honda will provide a lifetime of use but if your not using it that often the Kipor does the job for a lot less money and seems to hold its value on Ebay as well.

I agree with Cliff too.

I think the kipor is the best value. Just don't over drive them. If you get a 2000 then expect 1600 watts max the 3000 then 2400 watts. The harder you work it the noisier it will be be but without a doubt they're good.

I also made the mistake of using mine on a sandy beach for a party, they don't like sand but as soon as cleaned out by Col on here, she purred away happily. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I don't use it now really, it's just a backup if someone needs some aux. power.
