Old Garmin GPS and ICOM 421 DSC vhf talk to each other first time!

Realise that this shouldn't be news but given many of the posts recently I thought it might give a bit of balance!

In actual fact the VHF despite the manual indicating a need for the NMEA 0183 v2.0 message, and the GPS currently set at the 1.5 to keep a JRC radar happy, it accepted the 1.5 mesage as soon as I switched on the plotter.

I was one of those writing on my problems with a garmin and XM DSC, given up on trying to mate them!

Each of them work perfectly, but not together, and since those who supplied me with the XM have not had the courtesy of a reply to any of my e mails, and I cannot find any technical bumpf on it to help, then I have had to compromise and input position manually, just hope I would have time in an emergency to update!
Will have to confirm position on the oral channel 16 confirmation!
