Twister Ken has a good suggestion.

Replacing charts is always an expensive pain, but you just KNOW that, if something were to happen, the local media would report you as one of those needing rescuing because they were 'using a novelty compass, mobile telephone and out of date charts', don't you...

Use them to wallpaper the loo.

My downstairs loo is covered in charts dated between 1872 and 1959. The last includes my first fixes that i put on ever. Still use 1980s charts on the boat , however looking a bit dogeared. Most charts are now "painted with a solution normally used on floors" seems to work, and the "fluffy" surface is hardened to a great one to draw on with a 3B pencil.
