Hi all,

We've had to re-install windows on our boat PC which has meant we've lost the C-Map charts that ran in the nav software. We've also lost the disk image I used to install them. The computer has no CD drive for the original disk, nor do any of the other computers I now own - so I can't copy another image.

Does anyone who of anywhere online where you can download the disk images from? Specifically I'm after Selector disk 1, release 39.

I've emailed their customers services to so will update if they come back with the goods!

Cheers.

I can't help with OP's query, but those kind of things are so last century.

Today, just use a USB memory. Costs a fiver for 16GB (which is more than you can fit on a DVD).
Available in sizes up to 1TB.
I had a similar thought initially (perhaps use Etcher or similar). However, I think OP doesn't have a backup image file on disk but does have the original CD.

It sounds as if he is looking for disk images but dunedin's suggestion would be a reasonably cheap plan B. There's also the chance to use it to confuse teens in a few more years by asking them to guess what it is. :D:D

click on the link at the bottom to go to a new page. Lots of stuff on there that may be what you're after. Before everyone jumps in, beware the charts are old and "not for navigation".

Hi All,

Thanks for the replies. An external CD drive was my plan C option, plan A has come through though! C-Map replied to my email at 08:25 this morning with a download link to the disk image I need. Their

customer service appears to be really good, the couple of times I've been in contact they've replied very quickly and seem very helpful.

This looks like it could be a useful resource regardless - thanks for sharing.

Except that the OP apparently has the original disk (CD ROM) but can’t load it onto their laptop. Hence a USB connected CD drive could solve it. A USB memory stick ain’t much use for reading a CD ROM, or for transferring the data if uses an encryption routine like many old chart systems did

Perhaps I'm missing something, since thats a very large collection of links, but these are mostly home made (georectified?) charts for Asian waters derived from satellite imagery, principally Google Earth.

While there are good reasons to do that, and they (and the procedure for deriving them) would be very useful if I had a boat here, I don't see the raster Admiralty charts for UK waters that were the focus of the OP.

Ooops! Link got me. Didnt realise I was cross-posting from the other thread.

I realise that OP is having difficulty with image files ....

For any others - I offer this : Many times in the past - I have used Disc Image files without USB / Disc ... you create a Virtual Disc in the PC's memory - the image is loaded and 'decoded' to that VD .. and acts just like any Disc loaded to a drive.
