I have a 42 year old seaworthy boat with newish engine sails etc which has mild blistering of the epoxy coating. I have been trying to sell her on Appolo Duck, Boatshed, this site etc but after about nine months other than two semi-serious enquiries the boat remains unsold. I have dropped the price to cover stripping and re-epoxing the hull so I am almost giving the boat away.
As I am now starting to pay for having her on the hard and also paying for insurance I am now thinking about scrapping her. The only scrap yard I can find is in Gosport and I am not sure about them.
The next step is Ebay which I am a bit wary of or breaking her up
Are there any other yards who undertake scrapping on the South Coast ?

Why not dig out the blisters, fill the pits with epoxy, repaint her and sell her like that? It depends on how much you value your time at but the materials won't cost much.

Not surprising the boat has not sold. In general boats are on the market for an average of around a year before they sell, and the sector of the market your boat is in is probably the hardest hit. Doubt it is the blisters that is the serious problem and not worth spending money trying to repair it.

Don't think you will find many yards prepared to scrap a boat as there are seriously difficulties in disposing of remains, particularly the GRP and only a limited market for the usable components.

If you are really keen to get rid: E-bay with a £10 reserve. Somebody will bite. Scapping will cost you.

What is the boat? A Kingscruiser?.... must google....

Need to be a bit quicker on the keys....... Almost a carbon.

Quite often people will post on here ' I have a (insert boat marque) which I want to sell. Can anyone advise the best place to advertise it?'

Always causes amusement

Go on. Tell us what sort of boat it is and what you want for it and you may just get lucky.

With advice that is.

Not a sale.

There are people here who will tell you that's not allowed :encouragement:

If you just want rid of it at no cost to you.

Try donating it to a worth cause. as long as it serviceable I'm sure sea scouts or someone similar could use or sell.

I was thinking this problem should be used to promote a bit of marine wildlife.

There are a growing number of old boats that have to be disposed of. What to do with something thqt has little value and is hard work to dispose of?

Simples, strip out all valuable materials, Ali mast, stainless wires and prop shaft, props, engine, together with fuel tanks ..... take it to a designated area and sink the old tub along with all the others. After a short while it will become a marine reef supporting tons of fishes, crabs, lobsters, seaweeds etc etc. GRP is inert to the marine environment. It has to be as a material for boat building. However it is also very long lasting so it is an ideal material for making an artificial reef.

Careful placing of the components of artificial reef will prevent trawling through the sea bed which in turn becomes a sanctuary and nursery for fish stocks. A win all round..

Only needs a bit of organisation and agreement... but that would be the duifficult bit..

She looks like a very nice boat (I see the YBW listing now says sale pending, so perhaps you have been lucky now?). It might be worth specifying the make of the recent engine if you are still selling, and also maybe some interior shots, especially if she's tidy inside. Potential buyers may otherwise think there's something to hide. Otherwise I think the right person could pick up a very good buy.

Thanks. There is nothing to hide she is as tidy inside as out. I have sailed her for twenty two years I am now on the wrong side of seventy five and now decided reluctantly to pack up. I will look at the websites again as I thought all the details were shown. Engine is a Beta BZ482
