I've been trying to find a website where I could find an old boat in a poor state of repair (abandoned wreck), in view of restoration/rebuild.

I've visited all the popular sites ie: ebay, boats&outboards and find-it, etc.

Go pay a visit to the smaller boatyards, they are less likely to look upon the net as the obvious way to sell stuff, but are more likely to have a fixer-upper for the price of the outstanding berthing fees.

Mind you this might be more what you are looking for
derelict.jpg

If you care to wait until next year you will probably find many of the following type of boat lying derelict in the south coast marinas as the cost of "red" will put their owners off the sea and as so many will be in the same position you will probably be able to pick one up for the sake of the outstanding berthing. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Yes, the last one's the best option.

As I commented on during an earlier post, I'm on the look out for an Azimut 55 project boat, requiring some tlc, e.g. a full ashtray that needs emptying, or perhaps even one of the raw water strainers needs cleaning (if it's really cheap).

Just how much grief and poverty did you want to look forward to.We have a wonderful collection of old firewood and powdery heaps of resin covered rubbish quietly festering in our boat graveyard of a club.Did you have anything particular in mind.
Seriously before you hand over any money be aware that there are boats out there,as at our club, that you cannot not GIVE away, despite them only needing a good weekend clean up and a bit of new gear.
We have a small cabin two berth 18Ft sailing thingy, with mast and rigging still attached going for the cost of a years mooring ie.140.00 quid.In the last 12 months we have cut up 3 similer types of craft.
Ps do not pay good money for somebody elses mistake.

Thanks for your replies.

Its mostly a motor boat similar to Julians picture (but in wood), Chris's 4th picture or shrimper/crabber type.

A old timer I was speaking to during the end of the winter lay up, showed me his boat that he had rebuilt over the last couple of years. It was a fishing boat of approx. 30ft and was one of the small Dunkirk ships that he fished on when was a lad. Laying a new deck, transom, rudder, wheelhouse and engine. It was really a good effort all for £1200 thats buying and rebuild.
