Peeps may recall my comment a few weeks back about supporting a bike ride from London to Paris.

To repeat; I am driving the support van for a group of Doctors from Addenbrooks Hospital who are doing a ride from London to Paris to raise money to refurbish their relatives room in the department of respiratory medicine.

My connection is that I have stage 4 Sarcoidosis (hence I am driving the van instead of cycling) and am being treated by doctors from Addenbrooks/Papworth hospitals. They want to tidy up the relatives room to improve facilities for relatives visiting their loved ones in hospital.

Sadly, respiratory illness is often chronic and chronic illness does not attract lots of funding so the little things like the relatives room are a long way down the pecking order. But if you ever find yourself in hospital visiting someone you love the relatives room is sometimes the only sanctuary where you can gather your strength.

PS Please forgive for double thread, However peeps in the East are more likely to visit Addenbrooks and not everyone from the civilised East Coast Forum visits the Lounge.
