I have now started the Dufour project & one of the first problems is the existing Brookes & Gatehouse instruments.
The system thats fitted (circa 1970s) is the Hornet with - 360 wind; magnified wind direction; wind speed & yacht speed, instruments.
The indicators are mounted in a case above the companionway so that the are visable from the helm.
(you can see Here)

Although they work, the display indications (graduation marks) are so faded as to make them almost useless.
I do not want to get new instruments yet as this would be 1000k plus. B&G (who I might add were very helpfull) will service the old units, but again thats £600 plus.
Does anyone have any idea where I may be able to obtain some old units that are readable?

Re: old B&G instruments.

I agree with alienzdive. B and G Hornet was a great system, so £600 to get the whole thing 'back to new' has got to be worth considering. Provided they can fit new dials, which seem the main problem, I'd go for it. Years ago I had a set of the old 'grey box' ones and tentatively went to B and G when they got a bit sick. Astonishingly, they came back in fantastic condition and were used until I sold that boat. May still be working for all I know!

cheers Jerry

I'm just about to upgrade my Hornet 4 with a new computer and FFD and will probably have 2 digital speed readouts and a cruising computer thing. If these are compatable let me know.
