My Avon Redsomething inflatable is black with brass valves and the pump is made of wood with a rubber tube leading to a bell end that is supposed to fit over the valves but is split. Avon said that they no longer stock parts for their wooden pumps. Can this be so?

The valve flaps rotted away in my avon pump ... so I bought a 2ltr double action vertical stirrup pump .... designed for pumping up airbeds / lilos / kiddies pools etc. Amazing .. gets my Redxxxx pumped up far quicker than the old Avon pump ... and only cost less than a 5'r.

I also have a high volume - low pressure 12v electric job for similar money also designed for air-beds etc.

Hear, Hear. Those double acting plastic jobs are excellent. Cheap enough to keep one in the car and one on the boat. Don't know about the old style Avon valves though.... the adaptor is the problem

The adaptors with the plastic pump are nowhere sized to fit any avon valve ... BUT I found the plastic ring on the end of hose of the avon pump pulled of ... and fitted over one of the adaptors of the new pump. A bit of tape to make sure I didn't lose it and bobs uncle.
