That never got afloat during the last 3 weeks. That roasted my butt off and dreamed of being "out there"

Maybe not - I did get tothe boat for 3 hours, but thats the sum total of the use this year. Very sad, and it does the boat no good at all. Fortunately I have someone who goes and opens the hatches every morning and closes them in the evening, to try and keep air flowing through the boat, otherwise mildew would be an awful headache in this warm muggy weather. I have one trip scheduled across the Channel and back in September, and thats my lot.

I have a similar problem, only in my case it's the current lack of a boat! I tried walking on water but I'll need a few more incarnations to get it right.

I'm held up at the moment for the lack of an insurance company who feel comfortable about single handing.

Why so little use?

Well...a variety of reasons - I had a shoulder/elbow op postponed from last year so that it fell in the middle of the sailing season, which didnt help. The real reason is that the boat is a bit big to berth singlehanded, and my wife has been sidlined for the last 11 months (7 attempted suicides dont do much for anyones quality of life, least of all hers), so the boat has been way down the list of priorities as maintaining some sense of normality for the children has been a primary aim. Oh - and running a business and the house.

You're not the only one... have visited lots of countries (by air) in the last few weeks so not only have I roasted my butt off but also been soaked in a typhoon but still not been out of the harbour since the first week of July! Will rectify this with a long weekend on the boat this weekend, but then it looks as if all the travelling will kick off again - owning a boat would be great if I ever had time to sail. Never mind.
