OK - here\'s mine

Clue: It's not in this country.
Clue: I've never mentioned this in any post, so don't bother looking.
Apology: No apology for making it a toughie - I just thought it was a pretty picture.

Looks like a place we went to on a RIB safari to Kepholonia (wrong spelling I expect), can't remember the name, italian links, very expensive beers...am I close?

You could certainly get here on a rib from Cephallonia (sp?) but I'm not aware of any Italian connection (what do I know?) and the beers were the cheapest we found all week so I doubt if it's the same place. Even if it is, you don't get the points without the name.

What! You want to give in already? OK, more clues.

It's one of two harbours on this island (with which it shares it's name) the other having been abandoned after an earthquake in the fifties(?) Slightly off the beaten track though it's only about 10 miles from the Sunsail base at Vounaki.

Nope, but it begins and ends with the same two pairs of letters - don't they all though!

Oh, right enough, I'd forgotten about Kalamos. But never been there, just Port Leone. Is that it?

Spot on Donald. I don't know which parts of Scotland you frequent but claim a pint next time you're near Dunstaffnage or Edinburgh.

Dave

PS I was born in Govan. We had a shipyard outside our front door.

The pint shall be claimed, but not for a while I'm afraid. She having her bottom scraped and epoxied at Ardrossan. And we're in Stirling. Not sure where we'll keep her next year - was up at a swinging mooring at Dallens Bay in Appin from Easter this year. Very pleased with the mooring and great sailing. Largs previously. You still afloat, or wasting Internet time ashore?

I've seen yours around - so why no answer to Spot That Ferry?

;-)

Re: OK - here\'s mine

Donald,

I spent the previous season on one of the Linnhe Marine moorings but the swell that rolls in when the wind's in the North persuaded me to come up with the extra for a pontoon at Dunstaffnage (it's not perfectly sheltered either though) this year. Agree about the sailing area obviously. Lifted out a couple of weeks ago and started a wee web site here with pics of the lift-out if you're interested.

Had another look at Spot that Ferry but still don't know.

PM me when you've worked up a thirst.

Re: OK - here\'s mine

I agree with you about the winds from the North - had a few gales over the summer. But we've hardly ever stayed there overnight as prefer getting away to other places asap. Idea of going back to pontoons is a bit dreich though. We wouldn't.

Paul's installed some extra floats. I hesitate to describe them as pontoons. They look as though they've been knocked off from some dilapidated fish farm. They're a bit rough - need plenty fenders.

Liked the pics of Silkie though. Lovely.

You say the nicest things! Have you got any pics of Shard up anywhere?

You put me in mind of a couple of incidents (funny after the event) with the swell and Paul's "pontoon" but my typing is starting to suffer from the lateness of the hour - OK the drink is not entirely blameless either ;-)
