Oiled filled electric radiators

being marina based and living onboard during the winter each cabin was fitted with a small portable 240v oil filled radiator . My question to the panel is ---- Can these units be stowed in the horizontal for the duration of the summer ??

Hi Terry,
Done so with ours with no ill effects, just leave to stand for a while before switching on next time, probably not necessary but it doesn't do any harm.

Only problem I had with ours was I put the feet on the wrong end not thinking and switched it on .. I wondered what the burning smell was .. Paint on the radiator burning off .. Turned up the right way and all working fine .. Stored ours in its box at work upside down .. No ill effects .. Have now fitted diesel heater .. Far better really warms the boat up .. You may find that a fan to move the air round will work as you are relying on convection currents and hot air will just move to the highest point and stay ..

Thanks for your help chaps ! all safely stowed in locker for the "hot" summer now . /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
