Following the TV programme on the Ever Given in the Suez canal, here's an upcoming radio series about shipping in the Middle East.

A quote from www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0013r0s
"Over the next decade, the scandal swirling around the ship [Brillante Virtuoso] would come to involve lies on an industrial scale, corruption, violent threats, Greek Shipowners, Yemeni power brokers, British lawyers, Filipino sailors, the murder of a British man that remains tragically unsolved, and his family's fight to unravel a web of organised crime."

Edition 1 of 3 next Wednesday 23rd 11:00
BBC RADIO 4
28 minutes

(Web site says 24 January 2022, which was a Monday.)

Presented by the same chap who wrote the book about the Post Office Scandal, Nick Wallis.

Best one was the tanker Salem which in 1980 loaded 200,000 tons of crude in Kuwait on a genuine charter bound for Italy then stopped off at Durban and sold the cargo which they didnt own to South Africa thus breaking sanctions. They replaced the oil with water ballast and sailed up the West African coast where they scuttled the ship. They were rescued by a passing British ship. The plan was to claim insurance for the ship and its valuable cargo. The fact that we know about it means they got caught.

Have you got the month of the program correct?
That's a very good question. I copied the date off the web site. Since Radio Times touts it as a "New series" it surely cannot be a repeat from a January transmission? Anyway I edited my post so as not to spread the BBC's confusion further than necessary...

It's in the schedule for next Wednesday.

It's not on the schedule for 24th Jan, and it's most likely that I'd have heard it if it had already been on during the daytime.
