Oil seal replacement

I have a seamaster 26 with a bmc 1.5 diesel,I have a big oil leak from the front crank seal ,is it a case of ,remove pulley take out old seal and fit new?alan

Just remove the front pulley and you can fit a new seal without removing the timing cover, if you need a seal try ASAP part no.131020

You will probably find that the old seal has gone hard. You can buy a seal puller for not a lot of money to make pulling it out easier. Don't forget to oil the lip of the seal when you replace it. Also check the engine's breather, if this is blocked the front seal is usually the first place for crankcase pressure to escape!
