My 120hp Sabre has developed an oil leak behind the main crankshaft pulley at the front of the engine. I would assume that its the oil seal on the crankshaft but am not sure how to tackle this. I do not have access to the front of the engine apart from side access which only allows me about a foot of working space in front of the engine.

How easy/difficult is it to replace this seal and how should I go about it. Removal of the engine is not an option.

Thanks everyone.

I would speak to a Sabre engineer, but usually the pulley is secured on a parallel keywayed shaft with a large nut, often with a locking tab washer. Wether the seal can be replaced from the outside will depend on the design - often the whole of the timing cover has to be removed to fit the oil seal from the inside.
Good Luck

I had an "oil leak" from the front of my Bukh last year. In that case it was caused by overfilling the crankcase oil level. This year, by keeping the level where it should be, there has been no leak. So, it may be a case of overfilling the oil level.

But, as the post above this one says, check with a Sabre engineer first.

Philip
