Try A.S.A.P supplies, you will find them using most search engines. They are very helpfull and will send a catalougue of their total range with equivallent part numbers. We had a first engine service last year and the approved engineer was using their filters, but he left an identification sticker on, we now pay £3 for a engine prefilter and not the £32 charged by the engineer we used to use!

When I got my new Beta I took the oil and fuel filters to the auto parts store and bought equivalent ones very cheaply. The man behind the counter told me that they came from the same factory so quality was assured.

On same subject, has anyone been able to source a replacement for the diesel filter on a VETUS combined filter/separator (c. 1984. filter on left; smaller separator on right. Both have drain screws at bottom).

Have searched extensively, but the thread (they are spin-on) seems non-standard. Man on VETUS stand just grinned when I complained at the £30-plus price.

This web site has some information on alternative filters. Is your Vetus engine based on Mitsubishi?

Hope it helps. Paul

As far as the Vetus combined fuel filter/wter separator goes, Vetus operates onn the same basis as the ciomputer printers manufacturers: sell the product dirt cheap and make youir money on the replacement cartrridges....

Hi Vic, Why dont you go to an commercial diesel specialist and buy a CAV filter
mounting- mine cost about 20 pounds. You can then use van or truck filters.
My unit takes HDF296 filters from CAV/Lucas. Halfords equivalent is for Ford
Transit diesel and costs 2pounds 50. This type has the bowl for water separation
on the bottom, which works fine, but there are others. If you are around London
try Watsons Diesels in Wimbledon.
Regards, Phil

I have a Yanmar 2GM20F in a C&C 26 (I think you call them Trappers).
I've been using Fram PH3593A's as replacement oil filters for quite some time.
(Perolator L14459's also work as do WIX 51334 - but I'm not sure WIX are available in Europe)

Which make and reference number are the filters you use on your Yanmar? I could do with buying some at that price. Just paid £8.78 for an oil filter for my 2GM20, Yanmar part no.11960-35150. Paul
