My Newage/ BMC 2.2L Commander has decided a new filter bowl is required due to corrosion old age related no doubt. In short, pin holes leading to oil pressure loss. Not helpful. Can anyone suggest a supplier? The bowl is approx 3 inch o/d X 6.5 inch long. No engine, no sailing!!!!

Your local scrap yard may help as the BMC 2.2 engine was used in a number of old cars/vans.

Take the old bowl along as a sample.

Or you could give ASAP a call - they show quite a few spares for the 2.2 on their web site, but not the oil filter bowl itself. However, that doesn't necessarily mean that they can't either get hold of the part, point you in the right direction, or even sell you a conversion kit so you can use a spin-on filter.

I got a spin on conversion for a BMC 1.5 from Thornycroft not that long ago, they still do a lot of spares. There are also a few canal boat companies with spares and the vintage tractor comunity.
