Oil draining (not pumping) Yanmar 3YM30?

Any reason not to drain the engine oil via the bolt at the bottom of the sump on the right side of the engine. I have reasonable access to this but the manual only alludes to pumping oil out through the dipstick.

None at all, I would if I could get to it and have an adequate sized pan under it.
Not sure if it is a magnetic plug, you might want to check.

Your question made me read the manual for my own engine (Mitsubishi based). Just the same, it goes into some detail about pumping through the dipstick - and adding "or remove drain plug"! If the plug is magnetic, then you have the added benefit of being able to remove the collected swarf. I have plenty of room under the sump in every direction except under the plug (damn).

It will be no worse than sucking through the dipstick tube, in this case, since that's what the banjo bolt is attached to.
