Any reason not to drain the engine oil via the bolt at the bottom of the sump on the right side of the engine. I have reasonable access to this but the manual only alludes to pumping oil out through the dipstick.
Your question made me read the manual for my own engine (Mitsubishi based). Just the same, it goes into some detail about pumping through the dipstick - and adding "or remove drain plug"! If the plug is magnetic, then you have the added benefit of being able to remove the collected swarf. I have plenty of room under the sump in every direction except under the plug (damn).
