hi, my sabb manual recommends SAE10 for the winter and SAE20 for summer use. would i be making a huge mistake in using 5w20? can get magnatec 5w20 fairly cheap and thinking the slightly thinner cold state would make starting by hand easier but would that be a little too thin?

Magnatec 5w20 is designed for modern turbo gazoline engines(Ford 1,0 EcoBoost ), so I think it's not a good diesel engine because TNB additive may interfere etc. this is my opinion.

I would only use the recommended oil SAE and the diesel oil class because the oils have different odds than the SAE viscose you mentioned.

I would suggest talking with the guys at Sleeman and Hawken on 01626 778266. They are the UK dealers for Sabb and I have always found them very helpful whenever I've had a Sabb related query. I think you'll find what they don't know on the subject is probably not worth knowing.

Cheers
Andy

Turns out sae20 wasn't that expensive, thought it would be over priced as it's not that common. Got a gallon arriving today
