oil change

Late last year I changed the oil in my Volvo Penta MD 22 A.
I used a Pela oil extractor (not too good as you have to pump like hell because air leaks in but anyway...).
The oil draining pipe is situated on the left of the engine (seen from the front).
Now the question: Should there be some sort of closure on this pipe? On mine it is just open??? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

You should have a 'plug' over the end of the extraction pipe, Volvo Penta part number: 943835
