Hi folks,
Can anybody advise if isolated earth versions of oil senders and temp senders need the polarity to be correct?
I am planning toi remove my perkins 4.236 engine for some work and I have 2 oil senders (1 engine and 1 gearbox) and a temp sender.
All have 2 poles and I am wondering if I can just mark the cables or do I also have to mark which wire went to which pole?
Thanks.

I'm not an expert by any means, but all those I've seen are either s simple switch (for a warning light) or a variable resistor, so they shouldn't be fussy. However, I would check the resistance to earth from each terminal to be sure. If it's open circuit from both, you're pretty certain to be fine.

Think it matters not a jot but why not just mark them anyway and be certain?

I agree with both above.
But look at the senders and if the terminals are marked in any way which differentiates between them mark the wires or note their colours and reconnect them the same way as originally.

Going back to first base, my take is that if it were important/essential for the connectors to be replaced on the correct terminal, the sender and wiring would be foolproof - ie, male connector to female terminal on one, vise versa on the other.

Without that, I dont think it matters.
