My Merry Fisher 805 has a Nanni 4 390 TDI engine, based I'm told on a Toyota Land Cruiser's engine. The Rough Trax website shows , for this engine, genuine Toyota oil and fuel filters for about £18 each and AMC filters for about £6. Would I be foolish to use the cheaper AMC filters?

I have two of these Toyota 1KZ based 4-cyl 3 liter diesels.

Hava had no issues with either Nanni 970312207 or compatible oil filters. Never tried No-Name filters, though.

When you have a part number you can check the cross ref. on http://www.findpart.org/

Check TOYOTA 9091530002 or AMC TO140 and see :)

Edit: Check same site for P4922 for fuel filter

Many Diesel engine models are truck engines marinised. So there are plenty of filters supplied by motor factors that can be used on many boat engines at much reduced prices than chandlers charge.

Local motor factors for this.Usually to be found on the larger trading estates ,
Preferably one used by all your local haulage companies.Several names you have heard of will be available as will oil and virtually everything else you will ever need.
Make sure when you go in they know you will be paying cash.....
Want pay by card fine .......but do not expect their best price. :)

I use rough trax for my nanni 4.390tdi parts . But i do use the genuine Toyota oil filter and the AMC fuel filter and i am told that AMC is a good reputable company spanish i think.

Hi,
I have one of these engines in my Beneteau Antares 7. My engine is the smaller horsepower guise with mechanical fuel injection - T4.155. I get my filters from a company called Inline Filters in Cornwall. The fuel filters are £6.68 and the lube oil filters are £6.00 each plus carriage. The oil filter does have the anti runback valve fitted.

Regards

Is it the base engine manual as i can not find one with all the marinized parts ie heat exchanger

I have a Toyota 1KZ (407 pages) repair manual and the equivalent (191 pages) Nanni workshop manual. Also some service parts list, accessory parts list, lubrication and coolants list, service interval table, generator cross ref., original 4.380 brochure..

Edit: Toyota supplied base engines for marine use carry model number 1KZM. I presume this designates water cooled turbo and other marinization specialties like oil drain from above et al.

Used them for Racor and OEM fuel filter. Promised Delivery time was missed and they didn't respond to order status requests. Eventually cancelled order by mail after which filters were delivered shortly (!?)

And learn to suck air through your teeth (= 10% ~ 70% extra discount), if you need practice, get a quote from a garage/plumber/.....
