would the forumites recommend that i keep the outboard to my tender topped up at all times in view of the ever increasing cost of fuel?

i was going to suggest that my friend in Melfort might like to consider doing this as he has in the past allowed his tender to set off without topping the tank up first which can have untoward results such as this:

my friend has responded to such a suggestion couched in our usual practical and friendly manner with an insult. i am in the huff and may not offer any further helpful and practical suggestions in the future.

Is this fair?

$40 a barrel? I thought OPEC were forumites. I think they should be.... on the other hand, if you were an OPEC member, how would your tactical vote be cast?

<hr width=100% size=1>my opinion is complete rubbish, probably.

i liked g brown's insousiance (f*cking cheek) that high oil prices would be detrimental to world trade when his tax take on a gallon of petrol is about 9 times higher than what opec gets ... we do have a member of opec hereabouts (at least he looks like one) - ccscott ...

I have one of those rag head outfits which I used to wear with dark glasses on sunny days to avoid burnt skin. I have now stowed it off the boat since you and various forumites showed me those glum looking fellows with machine guns and fast boats in Portsmouth Harbour. I don't want to approach any of Her Madge's vessels and people get the wrong impression.
John
ps are we allowed to say raghead or is it nonPC? I'll find out.

This is most unfair, an incomplete and inaccurate version of affairs .. I'm sure I heard a screech of "Oh no not the cauliflower" before the guy legged it ..

You're right, Para. What Mr Brown-eye means is that it will be detrimental to HIS revenues, if the price of crude goes to high, ie we will buy less, which means less tax for him to get his mitts on.

Absolutely AND ANOTHER THING I was about to pass him the outboard to which his response was - 'Beggar off - I'm an ex-lifeboat cox' so I just left him to it...then I went and rescued him single-handed as Para was fixing his makeup or something
