I have just replaced the top and bottom valve on the pump and the joker valve. Loo pumps brilliantly but when the bowl has been emptied the handle rises slowly and some water comes back into the bowl (not enough to be a real problem). Logic says this is from the outlet pipe but with a new joker valve how can this happen? Do you think I've not got the valve in there quite straight or it twisted when tightening up and it just needs reseating? There's not much else to it but I want to fix it and not take it apart and find out I haven't got the bit I need.

And I know that a week without a loo question would be unthinkable /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The first few times I fitted the bit with the joker valve in it, I didnt seat it properly, (the pipe not the joker), but this just resulted in leaks at the joint.

It makes sense to think the joker isnt doing it's job if the loo fills after pumping out.... perhaps take it out and reseat the joker, then see what happens.... if you have a second loo, you could try the joker from the other loo and see what happens?

Sounds like something wrong. Had it just been a non sealing joker I would expect just the bowl to fill up to outside sea-level. Did you put the top valve plate in the correct way up?

I always coat the rubber bits in silicone grease before re-fitting.

Incidentally, watch that you don't break the cylinder moulding when re-fitting the screws. They break the plastic away ever-so-easily. Back each screw off to find the old threads before screwing home.

I have the same problem with a system using a holding tank. I am about to service the toilet.

On another note I have found that the breather was blocked on the holding tank. I have disconnected the hose from the breather and I can now use the attached pump to empty the tank. Prior to undoing the breather the Mk VI pump access would leak, not nice!.

Is it possible to put a T piece on the pipes so that you can divert between the holding tank and the stop cock?

Cheers.

If you do strip the self tapping threads it is poss. to repair by filing part of the hexagons off part of a nut,so that it fits under the part where the screw threads into( its recessed) so that you have a nut and bolt.I used a 2BA which meant enlarging the hole slightly.drill right thro. You could get a metric equiv. but I have lots of 2BA so used them.
