What's the worst experience you've had in Braye? Certainly wouldn't like to be there over the next few days!

Totally worst experience was walking all the way up the hill to Nellie Grays and being told I couldn't have a table. Truly awful.

I was there in about 1988 or 89 heading for the Sea Shanty Festival at Paimpol in a 64 ton MFV. First we dragged their moorings and were asked to go on the big ship mooring, there we rolled gunnel to gunnel and went about on our knees.

Decided to leave, got almost as far as the lighthouse in about 40 minutes and saw the GPS was reading speed over the ground 0 knots, crew vomiting out of door or just hanging on. Fishing boat came passed so I picked a spot that seemed OK and went for a 180, scooted back in in 10 minutes.

Got permission to go behind the harbour wall where we were joined by Arromanche, a landing craft and something else I don't remember. At least there the boat only went up and down. I always thought my two 150+ foot springs were pointless until that moment.

After two days we did escape down the Swinge to Guernsey and then the weather became beautiful for the onward passage to Paimpol.
