.........THE WHEEL IS ON......................and heres a piccy to prove it!
Cussed to the end mind you, even the washer needed grinding out a tad before it would fit the spindle.
And the icing on the cake...? SWMBO was so pleased that I was happy at last that she voluntarily teak oiled the bathing platform..two results in one day.bliss!

Nice wheel! How big is it, I'm looking for a wheel like that, 65-70cm diameter, was it expensive? Teak with teak rim?

Re: Princess wheel

Looks like the one on my P32 (previous boat) only mine had a SS rim. Like the look of your dash too.

Re: Princess wheel

Yes, the same people make one with a stainless rim.
Just refurbed the dash by recovering all the instrument panels with a leatherette vinyl and buffing up the switch panels etc with black boot polish - restores faded black plastic a treat!
Big decision now is whether to leave the grey fibreglass pedestal as is or cover it with thin teak ply to hide the 'plastic'. Suspect the teak ply will win eventually but other jobs higher priority, particularly relieving the overpowering acreage of teak effect formica everywhere and restoring the 'sunroof' which is a bit more like a 'rainroof' at the moment!

Re: about blooming time

Hi Mick,
Well, at the end of the day it came down to having the right tool for the job - yard manager managed to find a socket with really thin walls but strong enough so corners didnt split like wot happened with box spanner. Has been a bit of a saga though but at least i've finally wiped that irritatoing smile off the face of the old stainless one!

Re: Burgundy

Hi Tony, I am thinking of renewing my Black PVC canopy for one in Burgundy PVC, might be an idea
to do the outerhelm dash in Burgundy leatherette (currently boring black) Where did you get it from ?

Re: Burgundy

Several suppliers have a burgundy vinyl but only Toomer and Hayter (Bournemouth) had a leatherette finish - about £11 a meter i think.
Also try a PM to John H who was getting some samples.
Nice to see Matts chose a similar colour for his dash on the Leopard.....do I have influence?

Re new canopy, I thought about the vinyl but I'm going to use Acrylic canvas I think as its much lighter and easier to handle and rolls up smaller when down. Had canvas on previous boat and waterproofing no problem.

Re: dash

I was just thinking how very smart youir dashboard looked, but I don't think you've shown us the dash until now. My influence was from Ferrari. I toldem black and red leather "like ferrari" so they went in to overdrive to showem.

The bootpolish may come off in your hands - there's some "back to black" stuff in the car fixy places to restore black plastic. Not the stuff for tyres selling an old car, but same sort of effect.

All very smart i must say.

Hi Adina, wondered where you'd got to.......just recovered from the birthday party?
I shall not rise to your baiting as at my age one has learnt to let it all float by and just keep an eye out for the bits that might be worth grabbing! As for being easily pleased........its not as easy as it used to be but thats another story!

Re: dash

Thank you kind sir. You're right, never have shown a pic of it before but decided to use burgundy before I saw pics of Leopard so maybe its just great minds think alike or whatever...........Actually had something similar on previous boat and SWBMTB (....bought me the boat - bet theres not many of those around!!!!) ) liked it as well.
Thanks for the tip re black plastic restorer. Knew about the tyre stuff but not spec for plastic trim etc.

I wish i had something to put on the other end of a nice new sterring wheel.
I'll just be envious in the meantime.
Wont be long before I spash out - then try shutting me up.
And at my age ..... stil they say life begins.
Got to take my son to County Hockey Trials this weekend and so another week passes before I buy the boat.......
I may go for a sea trial the weekend before Easter ..... we'll see what SWMBO says.
Anyway last weekend that strong wind blew the front window out of my caravan and smashed the corner of it - another insurance claim ..........
