Managed to walk past TWO Pound shops in Maidstone last weekend ...................
.....and if I find out who put a wetwipe down my bog ....Grr.

Spent last night removing a wetwipe from the macerator blades in my boat bog.
Probably the first time it has been dismantled in 30 years.
A very very select few will know exactly the experience. :(

Yep, I feel your pain!
Have done an impromptu repair of the bog for same reason twice in last month..

Put a bucket on deck and tell everyone that after using it they should rinse it out with Sea/River water. Put a notice on the boat bog "No Solids please use bucket on deck"

What an unsavoury thread - and seem to remember you guys castigating me over the "Lets talk about poo" thread a few weeks back.
Crew education certainly needed (can't imagine OG using wetwipes though suppose possible Apollo might) but certainly cant recommend Byrons 'solution' and certainly NOT above Teddington !!!

The more I hear about holding tanks and macerator problems, the happier I am that we have Porta Pottis instead!
Not to mention broken down pump outs !!

I bought a complete replacement pump assembly for my Jabsco during our trip - just remove and replace and 3 hose connections to swap over but I still haven't summoned up enough courage to actually do it yet !

I met B1 for the first time at Sheridan Marine 10 odd days ago. He bought their last pump and I their last Jabsco spares kit. Likewise - no courage yet! I was also pleased to learn my holding tank was only half full after nearly 3 weeks cruising. You may laugh at my 320 lts holding tank on a 30ft boat, but pump outs are rare, and overflows nonexistent.

Not in the least. Big is best. My previous boat had 2 x 450 litre tanks, one for each loo. Even as a liveaboard pump outs were rare, and much better value for money when they were needed.

Believe it or not you can get pump outs for free where we are now. They take the view it's a better option than you emptying the contents of your tank overboard.

Sorry, wasn't very clear. When I said "where we are now" I meant the Solent generally and not where we're currently moored. There are no pump out facilities (or fuel for that matter) at Shamrock.

Ha Ha reminds me off when I first went to sea and we where told we could not use the toilet system onboard for about an hour as it was blocked and needed to be cleared, after an hour or so the second engineer came into the waardroom holding something in his hand asking who did this belong to it was funny to see one of the other officers wives going bright red.

Presumably you have to have a sealed lid, when on the river, to prevent discharge into said river.

I have a label on mine, from Lee Sanitation, says ' do put anything down this toilet that you haven't eaten first'!
