I had my late father's cine film put onto DVD a few years ago. There is some boaty footage that I want to use in a presentation I'm due to make at the YC in a month or so (Dragons racing back in the 60s)

I had hoped to be able to get "clips" out of the video to put into PowerPoint, and maybe edit some of the original footage using iMovie. The video is in the file format .VOB and I can't do anything with it.

Is there a fairly simple way of converting the .VOB files into something that can be edited and then put into Powerpoint?

I'll be using a Mac.

The simplest way to do this that I can think of is to play the .VOB file and use Grab to capture the pictures you want.

As for the video editing, there are free converters that you can download.

Might be easier to use Keynote on your Mac. It does movie integration better.

Thanks for the advice.

I have managed to convert the .VOBs to .m4v using Handbrake.

Now trying to edit the .m4v using MPEG Streamclip.

I've managed to grab a frame and get it into PowerPoint; now trying to capture a clip.
