For the night. Gonna park ourselves into Dean & Reddyhoff and have ourselves a girlie weekend so batten down the hatches if you're anywhere near LOL.
Hopefully this time I might manage to work out how to post the video aswell as the write up of our little jaunt.

Excellent. I really like Weymouth, you'll have a great time. Take your time along the jurassic coast, it's fab. I used to try and time my arrival so that I'd just missed the bridge. Then you get to tie up on the bridge waiting pontoon for an hour or two right in the middle of things, plenty of time for some chips from Bennetts, excellent.

I'm not completely current on Weymouth eateries, I do like the Balti place just up the road from the marina but I realise that might not be completely consistent with a girly weekend. Ming Wah chinese in the high street used to be v good. Last time I went to Perrys on the quayside it was nfg and I wouldn't go back. One recommendation that I haven't had a chance to try for myself yet was the Crab House Cafe between Weymouth and Portland, which I don't think is too far from the marina:

Have a great trip.

How come you have got time to post on this thread.......aren't you supposed to be busy sourcing some correctly sized O rings? Is H happy that you seem to have so much spare time on your hands? If she is, can she please "educate" S for me?

Ignorance is bliss - we are in different countries today... ;)

Jimmy's suggestion of the crab shack is an excellent one. It's called the Crab House Cafe and the phone number is 01305 788 867. Do book just to make sure you get in.

It's a 5 minute taxi ride from the marina, possibly less. You just follow the road to Portland and it's on your right just as you leave the mainland for thePortland beach road to Portland. Live shellfish, fresh fish, not at all posh (which is why Jimmy was allowed in) and good fun for you and the girls.

have fun

Henry :)

Lovely stretch of coast. Sea is pretty deep close in, so dont be afraid to drift along close up to the cliffs-dont race on past.
Drop the anchor for lunch at the west end of Warbarrow Bay.
Havent been into Weymouth for a few years as 1/2 hour was enough for a year...

Oh you so need to get in there son, have a few beers, a curry and punch up. Do you the world of good. :D:D I realise this must sound like a frightful bore for a Windy driver, but on occasion, one really must try harder.

Cheers

I guess I just get beaten up faster than you Jimmy, and can get on my way quicker ;)
I think we are always going further west is the reason;why go to Weymouth with Dartmouth and Salcome just round the corner !
I would add Brixham, but actually I havent managed to get a berth there for the last two years, so it is just a refuel and smack those throttles.

Be more generous gjgm, Weymouth is OK for a night. I got weather bound there (last year?) and it gets a bit dull after a while!

Getting onto Portland to look over Chesil is well worth it.

I prefer to stay in the harbour than in the marina. The chip shop is old-fashioned, so almost by definition, good :-)

I wasn't that taken with the Chinese, but then JtB likes sweet gloopy stuff more than I do.

Yeah, but Mallams is similarly old-fashioned, and as a consequence, not good.

Where are the current kcrane recommendations in Weymouth? Have you tried Floods? Any good? I've been recommended there but every time I try I never manage to get further than the pubs that they inconveniently put in the way between the town bridge and there.

Cheers
Jimmy

PS Gloopy! Ffs, what is this, revenge for 'blurry'? :D:D

Last time i was there one of the pubs on the North side of the harbour ( sorry cant remember the name ) had a good band playing some good music . Check it out.

We'll be in Weymouth tomorrow evening on our way down to Cornwall. If you see our Merry Fisher go past then give us a wave :)

Yep :)

PS - when I did that grab of the magazine it looked flipping crisp, everything else was blurry. Now I am drinking tea everything has swapped around, the snippet is blurry and the room has come into focus. Wonder what it could have been?

Ah, only applies to chip shops.

That's the one on the north side, heading towards harbour mouth. It was average. IIRC it gets reasonable reviews, and we had to book to get in, but it was one of those places where you find it hard to fault the food, but it's a bit dull.

Ok ok. It is better than Ryde.
Just, personally, I would get up two hours earlier and go somewhere nicer !
Am I allowed to say that? ;)
There again, I have to 'fess up, I totally loath Yarmouth. If I was sinking in the harbour mouth, I d try to swim for Lymington.
But then I love Teignmouth so, who knows.

Yacht club above the harbour masters office do a nice meal, and not silly dosh, always had a good nights music in the Sailors return pub which is by the bridge:D

Enjoy where ever you end up:D
