I have just bought a DSC radio and need an MMSI no.

So I try and log on to the website....

Enter what I think is my username / password. Doesn't work so click the forgotten passwork link...

It asks for forename, surname and email address....no problem I think !!!!

"There was an error retrieving your challenge question. Please ensure you have entered your registered name and email address correctly"

So I do it again with capitals, lower case, mixture of the 2, swap surname and first name around, tried ever combination. still the same message.

So I try to register again, but after filling in all the details it tells me that my email is already registered......!!!!!!

So I guess I need to wait untill office hours tomorrow and ring them ...

I thought they'd got that website sorted. The licence applications seem to be OK now but most other things have gone haywire. I sodded my details up a while ago!

the user names were often initial and surname and is not case sensitive AFAIK.. The password is the alphanumeric one you dreamt up and is case sensitive. I wrote both mine down, well I wrote the password on the letter telling me my user name and filed it safely.

They are usually quite helpful on the phone and I don't think you get put through to some foreign call-centre.

They may give you a new password and or user name. Write them down!

I logged in to my account OK you'll be pleased to know (at the second attempt /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif)

No point in trying to register. Even if you succeeded it would not have found your existing licence

Just found my actual licence and it has my first name as PS......

So I have put that in and it worked......It gave me a question and I got the answer right..... it gave me a new password which I have written down.....

I now don't know my username...... DOH.......!!!!!!!!!!!

Your user name was in the letter they sent you after you registered. Havent put the letter somewhere sensible I suppose!

There is more than a sporting chance it is PBURTON

Just been through the whole rigmarole myself.

It takes a couple of days before the site will let you log back in and view (and hence print) the first 2 pages of the licence which is what you want. Leave it for a day, calm down, and then log back in. Should be no problem. Failing that, the nice man at the end of site support has endless patience.. Well, he'd need it, wouldn't he?

Went through the same exercise a couple of months ago. When I tried to log back in to view my licence and get the MMSI number just got an error message so eventually phoned them. Put straight through to a very helpful person who sorted the problem immediately. Apparently their system often breaks down at this point so all the changes are made - you just can't see them!

Thats exactly what happened to me Everything went great until i tried to print out the license then an error message came up.One quick phone call all sorted logged on again and printed out no problem.

Can you imagine the chaos if the DVLC website had this problem with car tax renewals?
