Blimey! So we try to apply for a new license online....

Can you imagine shopping online at Amazon and getting this error message:

We detected an Error which may have occurred for one or more of the following reasons:

This operation cannot be completed. This operation is associated with an interactive workflow, which has already run to completion and can no longer be resumed from this operation. If the purpose of this operation is simply to take you to a view, you should be able to reach the same view by using the "Forward/Backward" button of your browser or the Siebel History panel. Otherwise, you need to restart the interactive flow from the beginning. For example, if this operation is a step in a series of user-driven tasks, you need to restart from the first task in the series.(SBL-BPR-00256)

e-government - isn't it a marvel?

Officially, I suppose you're right.
But Ofcom was set up by government; and its main purpose is to collect taxes on behalf of the government. Its secondary purpose is to enforce regulations made by the government. And it routinely demonstrates the kind of arrogance and incompetence which is the almost exclusive preserve of government.

Let's face it, if something looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it probably IS a duck.

I can't remeber for sure but that my be the error message you get if you take too long to complete the form. Or you may have omitted one of the mandatory fields. It is important to have all the required info to hand before you start although it is possible to save the partly completed form at any point and return to it again later.

Use the displacement if you do not have registered tonnage figure.

The biggest hurdle is working out what to do once you have completed the last page (p9) in oder to progress. You have to have to click on "save licence details"

Read what I wrote here about completing the form www.ybw.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=ym&Number=1277853&Searchpage=1&Main=1277579&Words=Radio+licence&topic=&Search=true#Post1277853
You may find it will help.

Cheers for that - not sure I was taking too long. My point was that as error messages go, it was pretty uniformative!

I must just be thick or something - I just thought it was an amazingly un-intuitive site.

[/ QUOTE ] Oh I agree but aren't they usually like that. One message to cover all possible errors. They might just as well read "You've done something wrong"

It does not seem to allow you to take much longer than necessary to complete the form though. I know it objected the first time I tried then it objected because i had left the toonage field blank.

just done it with no problems, but I cant seem to be able to change my password, from mydetails I select change password & then I just have a page with change password on the paper trail nothing more. Tried it in Firefox and IE.

I have done the same in Germany before, and believe me its much easier and certainly much much much cheaper in UK. We brits seem unable to say anything good about our own place /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Yup, me too. Can't change password. Also can't find out what the build thing means in terms of time to create a new license.
