Finally managed to log on to their site once I telephoned them to find out what my user name and passwords were.

Changed the vessels name (contrary to bar room banter the MMSI and callsigns stay with the boat, regardless of name/owner changes).

Filled in all the details hex codes for EPIRB, callsign MMSI etc..

To my surprise and delight it was approved straight away, clicked on "licence details" and sure enough there was a spanking new licence in PDF ready to print.

Changed the details on the MCA website for the EPIRB

I found once i actually found the correct page on the site and remembered the password and user name, it all went well.

Just to be slightly pedantic, you are correct of course that the MMSI and callsign stay with the boat, but..... as you can edit all of the boat details, including changing the name, you could actually move the VHF set to another vessel, than change all the details to the new boat :D Not quite sure why you'd want to do it though.

Not wishing to give any egg sucking lessons, but don't forget the CG66 registration Ian.

This might throw up a wobbler in the Marine office in Cardiff where callsigns and official numbers finish up in the same data file for a boat/ship
