ok its an old book, and not very pc nowadays, but a great read. about the characters/camaraderie etc of 600 men whaling from a factory ship in the early '50's around antarctica, s georgia etc. wittily written. and only a penny on amazon (no connection!)

not sure where i got the idea to buy this, so apologies if it was on here recently...

Yes, I had that knocking about before one of the clearouts. Have I got it right that the author was a whaling inspector ?
