I know of a Twister with decks laid in teak,
No doubt you will think this is nothing unique.

She's a lovely old boat, but there's a problem with wood,
It sometimes will not keep in a state which is good

A craftsman's been called - old decks he renews.
The owner has spent hours removing the screws

He has a strong arm (there's lots of thick planking)
It must be the practise from doing all that writing

I hope that, for his sake, the work rate is slick
And she is back in the water in a time that is quick

When the job is all done she'll head to France in a blow,
But I doubt that old Nicho will be aboard Indigo !

(I'm sorry for the poor grammar in this silly rhyme
Its been done in a tea break which doesn't take much time!)

Excellent, but the maritime equivelant of lighting blue touch paper before retiring perhaps? I'm looking forward to seeing how this thread developes. Chuckle :)D

A treatise on screwing

Unscrewing that is.

1. Remove teak cap from screw by using old flat head screwdriver as chisel. Sometimes the cap pops off just like that, other times the screwdriver has to be used as a chisel to clean out remnants of cap. More often the latter.

2. Use end of spike on sailing knife to clear glue that held cap in place, from head of philips screw

3. Remove screw with electric screwdriver.

4. Use countersink bit to enlarge top of screw hole.

5. Use vacuuum cleaner to suck shi...detritus out of screw hole

6. Fill screw hole with epoxy filler

7. Sand filler flat to deck.

Approx number of screws to remove and holes to treat - 1000.

Will my next boat have a teak deck? I'd give it the same odds as Bush/Blair finding WMD.

I have seen the same twister
about which you wrote
some rude little scotsman
shouted shitty old boat

your decks are all wooden
your keel is too big
when motoring backwards
you haven't a fig

the boats the wrong colour
it should be all white
the cabin's too small
to house me for the night

thats okay piped the twister
i don't hold with lodgers
but i can make the channell
and go look for your dodgers
