When we were out in Majorca last week, we anchored opposite this rather funny looking Scanner Rib. First one i have seen locally, I think around 7.5m, certainly looks different. From the pics on the web site it looks pretty OK inside, and I would imagine its pretty fast. http://www.scannerspain.com/scanners/inoutboard/1.htm

The other boat, which was a shame, was well and truly washed up in Cala Baix, just round the corner from Alcudia. There can be quite a swell coming in, so perhaps they left it overnight, but it was quite a way up the beach.

Not sure how you get something like that back off a stoney beach, which has no road access of any kind.

If it's not picked up by tuesday I'm claiming it! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Wonder what type of boat it is... looks a bit like a Baja but it's probably something completely different!

It looked pretty fast I must admit, but a very odd design boat. A RIB witha cabin seemed to be the best description. I think they are distributed locally in Majorca, but not sure where they are made.

We are back next week , so I will see if the boat is still on the beach.

Wahey! That could be the first ever boat recognition I've ever got right! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Nice boats on the water, we have a friend in france who owns this one and moors a couple of boats away from us:

There is a cigarette racer parked on the corner a few more boats downriver, and when they start up you can hear the exhausts of the Baja over the Ciggie! I can't stand behind it when the engines for fear of losing my hearing! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Nice Boat! Is that the Performance 275 with a single Mag in her or the 245 Performance with a single Mag? I looked at buying a 275 earlier this year as a day boat.....but it was too impractical for me.

Cheers

Well done chris - if its still there I will take a closer look. They will have to recover it from the sea, as its too remote for anything else. I would imagine there is a good chance it will have damage underneath or around teh engines, its a very stony beach.

I reckon the owners of pictured speedy boat probably are 'busy' in the cuddy, and will surface and curse a little about their situation and wait a few hours for the tide... doesn't seem to be any damage to the surrounding ground so I am guessing it's tidal or she would have had to have falled out of a very low and very slow plain!

I would say that isn't really a RIB, it's just a boat.

The tubes are too small for it to be counted as a rib, they're more like permenant fenders!

I would be shocked if it was CE Marked using the RIB rules, as it's payload would be tiny...

I would put a free tour on a Jeanneau Powerboat of your choice on that boat technically just being a plaining monohull powerboat /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

While your knowledge of French fishing boats is great-I'm not sure you are quite as well traveled as you could be.....

Although I have seen some pretty big storm surges on Menorca /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
