I had better get on and finish this before it gets any more boring.

After the calas on the south of Mallorca, the plan for the next night was to anchor at Rapita – a large bay rather than a cala.
Warlock had gone in there for an afternoon stop earlier this summer and didn’t come out for four days (I think they said).
A bit like anchoring is a swimming pool was the comment at the time.

The weather was beginning to turn when we arrived.
There were a couple of clouds in the sky and a little swell (read that as 12 inch waves).
It didn’t look much to me but the advice was that we should press on.

I do, however, have a video clip from earlier in the year which shows how the place should look.

Here it is

So we pressed on to Palma Bay. Skipped Palma completely – the comment was that there wasn’t much of interest there. Straight to Cala Portals.
I don’t have any good appropriate pics here but we anchored with a dozen or so other boats.
Some large yachts as well. It was really just a tea time stop. Sunny and warm though.

We then headed off – round the corner - for an overnight stop in Santa Ponsa.

The sea went glassy smooth again – and as usual we had the place to ourselves.

A very dirty windscreen but I think this pic gives the feeling of the evening.

I can’t really remember much of that night – I don’t remember going ashore – in fact I don’t remember much at all.
It was PARTY NIGHT on Warlock.
I do remember, though, having a very comfortable night at anchor and a splitting headache the following morning.
SWMBO did the rubbish run ashore on her own – I couldn’t face it.

We managed to get a quick weather forecast and it was clear that our weather window (luck) was running out.
There would be just enough time to get to Soller for the last night and to drive through some of the interesting places on the way.
Andraitx and this is Cala Pantaleu – I think.

And then through the Dragonera onto the north coast.

Jfm – we did pass Cala Deya and there was a boat in there but the werther by then was a bit overcast so we pressed on to Soller.

Although it wasn’t really sunny, it was still warm and the water temperature was good enough for a last swim.

We went ashore for dinner – now here are some interesting fishing boats.

Then it was off home before the forecast windy weather arrived.

Again just over 4 hours later (to a sunny welcome) we were back safely behind the lagoon on our home berth in Sant Carles.

We were away for just over a week – weather and company were perfect – what else could you want from life.

Thanks to Warlock and her crew for their fantastic photographs and for showing us their little haunts – a comment from them was Shhhhh – don’t tell anyone!!!

Thanks Mike, really nice post(s) and brings back fond memories from May.

As someone who has completed long posts in the past, i know how much goes into them organising photos and remembering where you've been etc and that often get forgotton, so really nice to see and very much appreciated.

hopefully see you in the pub on Wednesday

Thanks from me too, Mike. Your pics bring back memories of many happy days for us too. A little bit unfair on Palma which is a fine city with an interesting old town quarter and some good restaurants and bars. The anchorage at Rapita is indeed very blue but there are obstructions in some areas which can snag your anchor. Got the t shirt on that one!
Cala Deia is OK but there is a beautiful anchorage just south west of there in the crook of the Peninsula de la Foradada which many say is one of the most spectacular anchorages in the Med. Calm weather only though and you need a lot of chain. There is an anchorage NE of the peninsula too but there are obstructions on the sea bed there. Nearly lost an anchor there recently. Also if you get to come back to Majorca, about 10-15nm north of Soller is Sa Colobra which is another spectacular anchorage but you need to go ashore to appreciate it
Port Soller is one of our favourite destinations, particularly now that the council have tarted up the sea front area. The tram is worth taking up to the town of Soller itself just for the ride
Thanks again for taking the trouble to post your pics and vids

Thanks loads mike for taking the time (ie ages!) to make these posts. Great pics. Brings back recent memories for me as I did the same coast exactly, ie all around the island except the bit twixt Soler and Formentor! I must get round to posting pics, though many are identical with yours

Deleted User that fortadada or whatever it's called, just W of Deia, was indeed lovely. At least, if it's the place I'm thinkining of. Has a spectacular round hole in the rocks, and a place you can tie tender to rocks and walk to a restaurant looking over the anchorage. About 3nm W of Deia?

Thanks again Mike (for the 4th time).

It took me a bit of time to write up our summer trip and that was only 5-6 photos, I realise how much time and effort the four posts would have taken.

Thanks again, really enjoyed the write up.

Cheers,
Simon.

Brilliant reports Mike, many thanks for taking the time (& effort) to post them. Really sick now that we were not able to join you. Party night on Warlock just has to be experienced, fabulous company and heaps to drink. Hope they got you singing !! I certainly know about the 'morning after the night before' :) :) :)
See you both soon

very nice report Mike,
while many boats stay in a marina most of the time, and are only used to show off,
it is good to see when people are using and enjoying their boat
it is even better when they share these nice experiences
well done !

by the way, I really like your boat !
